ANKLE- Plantar Fasciitis

Prevalence
Plantar Fasciitis is a really common disease in the foot, especially in the middle-aged individual. It also can be seen on the people who are overweight, or athletic that on their foot a lot.

Location
The plantar fascia is a thick and flat connective tissue that connects from the heel to the toes. It can support the foot arch and keep the structure on our foot, especially while we having weight-bearing activities.
Cause
There are a lot of reasons that cause plantar fasciitis, but the main reason is because of overuse. Repeated strain will cause tiny tears on the ligaments which will lead to inflammation and pain.

High-Risk Groups
Abnormal foot structure (high arch or flat feet); walk, stand, run for long period especially on the hard ground; overweight; wear the shoes that doesn’t fit well; foot overpronation.
Symptoms
The most common symptom is that people will complain that they will feel pain under the heel when they took the first step after got out of the bed. The pain also will occur while standing or walking for a long time.

Do's
For the acute period can use ice pack treatment on the pain area. Apply ice for 10-15 minutes after each activity to reduce the pain and inflammation. Also can do the massage on the plantar fascia regularly.

Don’t's 
Avoid doing activities on the hard ground. Also, when you feel pain, avoid the activities immediately.
